Top 8 Motorcycle Movies for the Winter

If you love motorcycles as much as I do, and you are already dreaming about that first ride in the spring, why not grab snacks, sit back, and watch some of these great motorcycle movies. There is no better time to settle in for a movie than during the cold winter months. In no order, here are my favorites.

The Wild One (1953) It doesn’t get better than this old classic! I saw this movie for the first time when I was 5 years old and have loved it ever since. Rival bike gangs, a town sheriff, bar fights, the roar of forty motorcycles, and Marlon Brando playing Johnny, an outlaw biker on a Triumph Thunderbird 6T.

Hells Angels on Wheels (1967) This is one of Jack Nicholson’s first movies, this film depicts the life of a Hells Angels gang member. A classic 60’s movie, you will see fighting, riding, some impressive bikes, and maybe a stabbing or two. The president of the Hells Angels clubs consulted on this film to keep it as realistic as possible.

Why We Ride (2013) This documentary is based entirely on the passion of riders and the bikes they ride. You will feel their excitement and fall in love with your motorcycle all over again as you journey through sand dunes, endless highways, and canyons with fellow motorcycle enthusiasts.

Electra Glide in Blue (1973) This movie is about a motorcycle cop who is promoted to the homicide division to investigate a murder. Robert Blake stars in this crime murder mystery that is full of twists and turns and some great motorcycle footage.

Hell Ride (2008) is Another movie depicting two rival gangs with violence, drugs, raunchy language, and of course nudity. Although a little harder-core than other biker films, this film is raw, gritty, and pushes the limits.

On Any Sunday (1971) This film focuses on what makes people want to ride in motorcycle competitions, considered to be one of the best motorcycle sports documentaries ever made, and was nominated for an Academy Award. From motocross to the grand national, if you love motorcycles and racing you will love this movie. A sequel was made in 2014 and is equally as good as the first one.

Every Which Way But Loose (1978) Although this movie isn’t really classified as a “Motorcycle film” there is a gang of bikers that includes legendary brawler Tank Murdock. Starring Clint Eastwood and an orange orangutan, this movie is a classic and a must-see for any Eastwood fan.

Easy Rider (1969) Its impossible to have the best motorcycle movie list without adding “Easy Rider” This iconic biker movie stars Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper, and Jack Nicholson traveling across America and featuring the epic song “Born to be Wild” by Steppen wolf, the unofficial ballad of the biker.

Now, sit back, press play, and enjoy the movie! before you know it you will be back on the road having your own adventures, minus the bar fights and rival gangs of course, but epic nonetheless.
